Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge

This awesome place in the desert has become my favorite location for taking photos and for recreation. I'm thankful that the Bosque Del Apache is in New Mexico; what a blessing! I always look forward to the winter months which are spectacular in so many ways, but this little paradise has a year-round fascination about it. I picked a few of my favorite images to show you here. Many of them are available as greeting cards, photo magnets or mats and postcards.

November supermoon 2016

The evening started a bit disappointing with a cloud cover and even though the moon didn't turn out to be that huge, it still was a beautiful evening. The next morning we said good-bye to the supermoon while waiting for the cranes to wake up and take off for a new adventure. It was not a mass ascension like I had expected, but a slow procedure in groups of 5-20 cranes at a time. It made for a beautiful morning stretching the whole take-off through all different kinds of light and lasting way beyond an hour. Later on we got blessed with some rapture movement.

Always puts a smile on my face when I walk into the Bosque del Apache visitor center.
