Welcome to The Tunnel Stop

It is with a sad heart that I am announcing the closing of the Tunnel Stop Gallery. I like to keep this page up for the good memories. Thank you Sue and all the best to you!

Right above the tunnel coming up from Alamogordo on Hwy. 82 you will find The Tunnel Stop on your right hand side. A store power-packed with art and handcrafts of all kind and I call myself fortunate to be able to be part of it.

You will find jewelry, pottery, wood and metal work, Native American art and music, woven, dyed and knitted clothes, crosses, paintings and prints, photography and computer art. You'll also find a bookstore with new and used books and featured local authors. There is so much more and I promise you will not walk out empty-handed. This is a place for everybody! Take a look at the slide show.

You will find BCDesign products throughout The Tunnel Stop.

Thumbalina, the four-legged store manager.

Sue has added so much to these mountains by giving all local artist a place to call home. Altogether she is hosting around 200 artists from New Mexico and a handful more from around the country in her store. Sue, herself an artist in so many ways, loves life and people and will make you feel welcome. Here you see her with a beautiful scarf, designed and woven right here in the store.

Fresh, so many things ....... How about some local honey, pistachios or pecans? I love the famous, seasonal Carrizozzo cider and depending on the time of the year you'll find cherries, apricots, apples, herbs, jams and jellies, and chicken eggs.

A beautiful setting for different kind of events, the winter garden as I call it, in the back of the store. Sue hosts a lot of art classes like stained glass, mosaic making or flute playing in this gorgeous room. Oh, I almost forgot, Monday mornings is exercise time, TaiChi and Qigong, to start the week off just right. When it's not set up for class you'll find single tables, which invite you to grab a book from the shelve and sit down to read. In the winter time filled with plants, in the summer time the view of the neighboring apple orchard, Sue has created a place with a special atmosphere. Can you imaging a cup of fresh ground coffee to go along with your book while listening to the crackle of the wood in the nearby fireplace? Go for it!

No matter if rain or shine or fog like here, Sue will always have a warm welcome and a big smile for you. Stop by, say hello and enjoy A Little Bit of Artist Heaven.
